I took Friday afternoon off work so that we could have an early start. We had booked to go on to the quiet site of one of three associated sites in Denver. We were all supposed to be able to use all the facilities in the main site. However, when we arrived we discovered that the three sites were not as near as we were led to believe and in fact it was a 5 to 10 minutes walk from our site to the main block of the main site.
Needless to say we did not use their facilities.
Even though I was a little annoyed about this the site in fact was really quiet. It was only designed for 5 or so users and the other users were fishermen so the whole place was quiet.
The weather on Saturday was not at all good, we intended to walk to Denver sluice, but even though we knew the correct direction we did not know how far it was. In fact we gave up and turned around only about half a mile from the sluice. In the afternoon we walked into Downham Market, which we discovered was quite a nice small town, but it rained and was cold so we walked back! it was not the sort of weather to enjoy being out!
The main purpose of the visit was to allow us to visit Helen's father who lives in the area. We visited on the Sunday and went for lunch with him and his friends to the local pub. We stayed some time after lunch and then returned to site in the early evening.
Helen had not been feeling very well during the weekend and so we returned home on the Monday morning. We did stop at a garden centre on the way and bought a few plants including tomato plants which are now growing.
